PHOTOWALL MURAL PROYECT

My upstairs hallway was one of my least favorite places in my house. I wanted to do something that would give it a big change and make it something that I would love. I've always wanted to put a mural up but I could never find anything that I liked until I learned about Photo Wall! As soon as I went on the website, I was so excited with everything I saw. I didn't know which one to choose, there were so many great options! What I did know is that I wanted something black and white (if you've been following me a while you know those are my favorite colors). I decided on a forest mural with large beautiful trees that I fell in love with!

Right now you can get 25% off your order using my code HOMEANDFABULOUS25. It would be such a great Christmas gift as well!

I knew this hallway needed a "wow factor" and I wanted to make sure that was the end result. The first thing I did was choose this beautiful wallpaper and then I decided on adding trim to the wall that wouldn't cost a fortune. I outlined the design for my husband and he was able to just cut the wood pieces and put them on the wall, and I would take care of the rest. I really love the way it turned out. This is one of my favorite things about this project. I did a complete 180 on this space and now I would love trim all over my house!

The ceiling light was one of the things that I wanted to change for a while now. It's more than 15 years old and it was time for an upgrade. I found this light on the Houzz website and it was one of the best decisions I made because it looks fabulous! I had a sconce with a single light and I knew I wanted something with a little more drama. I decided on this 3 light sconce and it looks like it was made specifically for this space. It looks perfect with the wallpaper and the new trim.

The bench I found at Homegoods and what I loved about it is that it was long and thing, it was perfect for the hallway. It didn't take up too much space and it wasn't in the way. The only thing  I wasn't too crazy about was the fabric. It was cute but not really my style. I decided to reupholster it with an off white velvet fabric and I painted the body black (color is "Black Boar" by Magnolia Home). Details are what I pay the most attention to when I restore anything, it's like my signature touch. Some people might think "what more can you do to a simple bench?" and that is my specialty! I added a gold vintage "cap" to each corner of the bench that I knew would pop against the black and look so elegant. To say I'm thrilled with the results would be an understatement! I'm so happy with my new bench.

The stair rail was already black but only at the top. I decided for this project I would paint the whole thing black. I added the gold color to the finial to give it an elegant touch. It's definitely unexpected but looks so good.

This small table I unexpectedly when I was at the store and I knew I wanted it. I just didn't know where I was going to put it. It was too cute to leave it behind and I knew I could find a place for it at my house. It ended up fitting in this corner perfectly, like it was meant to be!

MOODY GUEST BEDROOM

When I made the decision of converting this room into a guest bedroom, I really wanted to decide on what style I was going for. I didn't have anything particular in mind until I saw this wallpaper by Tempaper and I was fascinated! The flowers are gorgeous and it's almost as if it's 3D.

BEFORE
BEFORE
This room was used as an office for my work because of all the natural light that comes in. I decided on making it a guest bedroom because it's a little further away from the rest of the rooms making it perfect for this project. This room is considered a guest bedroom but in reality it's for my daughters because they love to visit and spend the night regularly! Now, when they come by, they'll have a nice room to stay in.

Let's talk about this wallpaper by Tempaper Designs! It's hands down the most beautiful wallpaper I have ever seen. The huge flowers give it such a different look then any others I've seen before. It's so easy to install as well: just peel and stick! If you are planning on using it in a big or even tall space, you will need an extra hand to help you install it. If you're doing a small space, you can definitely do it on your own! The thing I love about this wallpaper is that the texture on my walls doesn't show through, it hides it really well. My walls have a lot of texture and at first I was scared it was going to show through. When I started installing it, I was so happy to see it didn't show at all! The bottom half of the wall is painted a beautiful pink color that I absolutely love. The color is "Ella Rose" by Joanna Gaines. The trim was a nice touch and that was done by my husband.

I bought this beautiful light for this room knowing I wanted to incorporate it in the guest bedroom before I even started anything. So you can say that I chose the wallpaper based on how it would look with this light fixture. It is from World Market and sadly, I think it may have been discontinued. However, you can also find it HERE. The medallion is from Amazon and I decided to paint it in the same "Ella Rose" color to match the ceiling. Ceiling Medallion from amazon.

BEFORE
This bed is a really cool find from the thrift store! I found it in the winter when coronavirus wasn't around yet and I was really lucky to find it. If I would have waited, I probably wouldn't have had a chance to finish tis room because a lot of the stuff had to be ordered online after the lockdown happened. It took a long time to get to where we are now but I'm so happy with the way it turned out. I painted the bed with chalk paint by Joanna Gaines and the color is "Black Board." It's my absolute favorite black paint.

This rug is from Target but I also think this has been discontinued or it just may be out of stock. These rugs sold out pretty quickly! I love the black and white color but the best part is that it is an outdoor rug! So that means it's a lot more durable than a regular indoor rug and they don't get dirty as easily. Here's another similar great option for you guys!

The curtains are from Ikea and I decided to add the tassel trim to give it a more elegant look. You can add whatever you like to a plain curtain and it will give it such a big change! No one will have guessed they were inexpensive plain curtains before!

This dresser is also from Ikea. It's very simple so I decided to change some things up to make it look brand new and expensive. I got this beautiful gold hardware from Amazon and I love the way it looks. I wanted to give it an unexpected look and I immediately thought of using washi tape. I bought it on Amazon as well and I went with a simple design on the drawers and I love the end result! With just a couple small additions to the dresser and it looks like I purchased a whole new one.

BEFORE

This chair is one of my favorite finds from the thrift store. As soon as I saw it, I loved it and knew I wanted it in the guest bedroom. The color I used for it is "Demo Day" by Joanna Gaines. I bought a pink velvet fabric for the cushion and I love the way the colors look together. I think small details are always important so I decided to give it a little gold touch which I think ties it all together perfectly!

Of course all accessories are from HomeGoods as well as the bedding, table, lamp, and mirror. The black and white pillows were made by me.
