MODERN PLAY ROOM

My grandkids spend a lot of their time here at grandma and grandpas house. They always want to come over and spend the day here so I decided to make a special room where they could spend the day using their imagination and not stuck to the tv or phone!
I started with the cute little kitchen because Harper loves anything that has to do with kitchens! Easton is the same! He loves taking the pots and pans and pretending to cook so I knew I had to have a kitchen in this playroom. The kitchen set was originally brown and gray which wasn't the ideal combo for me. I decided to give it a little makeover and make it a little more modern and cute!
I started with a primer which you could find at any hardware store. After, I used regular paint that I use to paint the interior of my house. I bought this in semigloss because it's easier to clean when dirty. After putting the primer on, I left it to dry for a day. The next day I went in with the paint. You can do this with a paintbrush or roller, it makes no difference. The gold parts on this where done with spray paint and once dry I put a sealer on top. I won't lie, I did put 4 coats of sealer with the kids in mind. I know they like to throw things and bang them against the kitchen. I know I know that might have been a little too much sealer but it gives me peace of mind! :)

A storybook wall is always a must in my opinion when doing any children's room. Books are so important to growth and development and they're fun to read! I made sure I had tons of different books for them to choose from. I decided to put in a tee-pee with lots of pillows and a blanket inside so they have a spot to sit and read.

If you saw my living room update, you might have seen this blue chair there. I decided to take it from the living room and add it to the kids playroom for a fun pop of color. That way there's a spot for an adult to sit while watching them play!

How cute is this this mini table and chairs? I knew I had to have it when I saw it! And let me tell you that they have already been getting use out of it. Easton insisted on eating his dinner there the other day. It's definitely a big hit!

I hope you enjoyed this room as much as I had fun decorating it! I hope you all get the chance to do something like this for your little ones! It makes me so happy to see my grandkids playing with the toys my kids played with 25 years ago!
