NEW YEAR, NEW IDEAS

Hi friends, I hope you all had a great week! I have tons of work to do over here! As most of you know, I just got back from New York. It was an unforgettable and amazing week! It was a work trip but I still found time to explore. It was my first time there and I fell in love so I'm sure i'll be back sooner than later. We had some classes regarding new trends for 2017. Speaking of the new year, there will be new ideas and changes in my home.

In this post, I want to show you how the living room stands out with neutral colors around the chimney since I'm getting ready to change it. For those of you who have asked, the color is "silver chain" by Benjamin Moore. This color is all around my living room and I'm thinking of keeping it because  I love it so much. It's silver but very light. What I like the most about it is that the color gives off a lot of light in my house. I've always liked white but like i've mentioned before, you can't live in an all white house. I love seeing all white homes but I couldn't do it. I love bright and bold colors that give an impact, that's my style. One of my favorite colors is black as most of you know. That is why I have decided to paint the wall were the chimney is in a dark color. I'll show you how it turns out and what color I used in another post.

At first I wondered if it was a good idea to paint it this color because I wasn't sure if I was doing it correctly. I've mentioned before that I can usually imagine the finished product before it's even done. It's something that's always worked for me and it's never failed. The chandelier I have in this living room is white and it would be a great contrast to the dark color I plan on using. It is a dark gray, almost looks black.❤

A lot of people have asked about the chandelier and where I purchased it so i'll give you the background on it. We have a friend who owns a Mexican restaurant and it's a huge 2 story building. The 2nd story was a club in the 60's were various Mexican artists would stop by. It's a huge place with red carpet and huge chandeliers. The dance floor was surrounded by chandeliers. Alas, it was abandoned and they now use it to store things for their restaurant and old furniture. It's a shame because it looks like it has a lot of potential. They said it would be too much money in renovations until the City thinks it's acceptable. One day I went up to pick up some things I was borrowing for a party and as soon as I stepped in I saw so much history in that room I was left in awe. The posters of the artists that would be there were still up. It was an unforgettable experience.
That's were I saw the chandeliers and I asked my friend to sell me one. They were full of dirt and dust with the paint coming off. Some of them didn't even have crystals left. So he ends up selling me one for $120 and I was ecstatic! They say you should respect the history of things but it was very hard to keep the paint it had so I decided to paint it white and I love how it turned out. The original color was gold, but to me it looks better this way.
It's so heavy that my husband was worried about hanging it there and falling. I let him know that it wouldn't fall as it had been hanging in that restaurant for years and nothing had happened. It was 7 years with no troubles πŸ™Œ

I hope you enjoyed this post and if you have any questions let me know. I will be sure to answer as soon as possible!

    1. Hi Jerrika,
I think it's a jewelry box. But it has many functions, as in this case to hide the remote controls πŸ‘πŸ». I found it on homegoods😘 Thank you for stopping by my blog 😘
